Shred some Pacific Northwest powder in the heart of the beautiful Cascade Mountains on a weekend getaway to The Summit at Snoqualmie and Crystal Mountain Resort. Follow up an iconic few days on the mountain with cultural escapades in Seattle, the Emerald City.

57 miles

Morning

Take an early flight to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. After arrival, grab your gear and drive east to The Summit at Snoqualmie. Located less than an hour from Seattle, this local favorite offers skiers and riders nearly 2,000 acres across four unique areas. If you’re ready to rip, start at Alpental for some of the steepest and deepest runs in the area. Extreme skiers and riders can pick up a Back Bowls Pass and head to the Alpental Backcountry for some serious powder action. Novice and intermediate athletes can stick to the front of the mountain or take some turns at Summit Central or Summit East, both offering smooth groomed runs and great tree skiing.

Afternoon

Refuel at The Summit at Snoqualmie’s newest dining lodge, the Silver Fir Café, located at the base of Summit Central. The restaurant serves up international delights like stir fry and curry bowls, alongside traditional favorites of loaded burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, and hot soup. Jump back on the snow and take the S-90 run over to Summit East or Summit West, depending on what you’re in the mood for. Or shuttle back over to Alpental to ride the Edelweiss lift (also called Chair 2) to the top to snap an Instagram-worthy selfie.

Evening

Break for a bite at Tiroler Stube, where you can nosh on Alpental’s famous oven-baked pizza, washing it down with a pint of locally crafted beer. Craving more snow action? The Summit at Snoqualmie offers 541 acres of night skiing, the most in America, so you can keep the action going all evening long. For something a little different, slide down one of the 20 snow tubing lanes, also open into the night. Relax for the night at one of the nearby accommodations, ranging from hotels to mountain vacation rentals.

93 miles

Morning

Before you hit the road, grab a muffin and a shot of caffeine at Hot Shotz Espresso, located at the base of Summit Central. Then hop in the car and head south to Crystal Mountain Resort. After arriving at the base, pull on your gear, buckle in and make your way up the mountain. If the flakes are flying, take the high-speed two-seater Chair 6 to Southback. This is where you can plow through deep powder and tackle technical terrain.

Afternoon

Enjoy lunch at 6,872 feet, with Mt. Rainier as your backdrop. Stop into the Summit House, Crystal’s most scenic dining experience, and savor plates of smoked salmon wraps, bison burgers, and caprese sandwiches. Once refueled, snap a selfie in front of Washington’s most iconic mountain before speeding down the slopes for an afternoon of exciting skiing and riding. Intermediate athletes will love the variety of blue trails from the summit, while advanced riders can challenge themselves on the steep terrain off Northway Peak.

Evening

After a satisfying day on the slopes, make your way to Rafters Smokehouse for a pitcher of Crystal Mountain Amber Ale and a plate of Mountain Nachos. Or nestle into a cozy booth at The Snorting Elk Cellar, an Austrian-inspired ski bar serving up frosty drinks and scrumptious meals. Settle in for the night at one of the local lodges, where you can rest for another day of mountain action.

81 miles

Morning

Start the day with a pick-me-up at Chinook Café. Then hit the slopes early to clock some fresh groomers off Forest Queen Express and Rainier Express. After you’ve skied or ridden to your heart’s content, make your way back to the Crystal Mountain base for a final farewell to the Cascades.

Afternoon

Before you leave, pick up a memento from your visit at Right Angle Sports, selling the latest gear and logo apparel at the base of the mountain. Grab a bite to go before pulling on the highway to start the scenic drive back to Seattle. Located less than two hours from Crystal Mountain, Seattle offers visitors a variety of cultural, culinary, and outdoor activities to enjoy.

Evening

Spend the evening walking along the waterfront, enjoying views of Elliott Bay from the Boardwalk. For an even more spectacular view of the bay and the city skyline, take a ride on the Seattle Great Wheel, one of the largest Ferris wheels in North America. After your ride, stick around to catch a light show, as the wheel’s 500,000 LED lights illuminate in colorful patterns and themes.

Morning

Start the day at the icon of Seattle: The Space Needle. Soak in 360-degree views of the city from the recently renovated structure, which now features floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a revolving glass floor. Located next to the Space Needle is Chihuly Garden and Glass, an out-of-this-world exhibition filled with the intricate and colorful glass masterpieces of artist Dale Chihuly.

Afternoon

Grab a bite at one of the many eateries in the Seattle Center before visiting the Museum of Pop Culture, or MoPOP. The building, which resembles a smashed guitar, holds exciting exhibits covering the history of indie video games, horror films, the Seahawks and much more. Walk to the waterfront and check out the Olympic Sculpture Park before moving on to the famed Pike Place Market. Here you can visit the original Starbucks café, snap a selfie in front of the neon Public Market sign, take part in the fish-tossing tradition, and stroll past the gum wall.

Evening

Spend some time in Pioneer Square, Seattle’s original downtown. Peruse the historic, ivy-covered old buildings, check out the boutique stores, and grab a pint at one of the local watering holes. After drinking in the sites of Seattle, make your way back to the airport for your flight home.
