Three distinct personalities, terrains and experiences. That’s what visitors will discover at New Zealand's top South Island peaks. Each one boasts unique trails suitable for all skill levels. For the big adventure seekers, head to The Remarkables near Queenstown and hit Homeward Bound. Take the cat track at the top of Shadow Basin, and head out wide before dropping down an open face that’s all yours. Pick your line and navigate around the natural features. You can do this again and again, as no two runs are the same.
Raise a glass and toast a day on the slopes at Opuke Kai. This après hot spot offers the only on-mountain a la carte experience in Canterbury. Gather with friends next to the roaring fire or out on the sunbathed deck, and enjoy a cup of mulled wine before sending it down the hill.
Keep the mountain action going all night at Coronet Peak. Every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, from late June to early September, Coronet Peak keeps its runs open until 9pm. Skiers and riders can soak in iconic sunsets from atop the peak before speeding down floodlit trails. At the base, gather around the fire with a Coronet Peak Pale Ale and dance along to tunes spinning from a live DJ.
Avoid the hassle of parking at The Remarkables and catch the bus up the mountain from the Snow Centre in Queenstown.
